The County Clerk has certified our petition to Put the 9.5% Tax Hike on the November Ballot, so you will be able to vote on it.
This Begins a New Era of Accountability for JCPS
Thanks to all of you who signed the petition! You are making a positive difference in our community!
To the best of our knowledge, nobody ever has succeeded in gathering enough signatures to take a tax hike to a vote in Jefferson County. By signing this petition, you have helped make history!
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone who helped make this effort successful. Those who signed the petition, urged others to sign, distributed flyers, made helpful facebook posts, turned their cars into moving billboards, had the courage to stand up at a press conference, or otherwise participated in the effort. You all are making a positive difference for our community!
We still have a lot of work to do, but I hope we will be able to look back on this effort and say this was a turning point, when the citizens of Jefferson County stood up and demanded that JCPS do the job it is paid to do, which is to provide a good education to every student. No more excuses! We have seen our community come together to sign this petition from every part of town, every political party, and every walk of life. I hope we will continue to work together going forward to ensure that every child in our community gets a good education to prepare them for a successful life and to ensure that the taxpayers get their money’s worth.
JCPS is now suing the County Clerk to try to prevent the votes from being counted. We are trying to make sure the votes will be counted. No matter what you hear on the news, please be sure to vote against the tax hike. We will do our best to ensure that your votes are counted.
Many thanks to everyone who has helped make this historic event possible.
